At the turn of the century, ethnic rivalries were common on the streets of Chicago, but none were so vehement as the conflicts that the first domineering group–the Irish–posed. ┬áThe addage, ‘Hit ‘Em Again He’s Irish” came from these very streets, as groups like Cermak’s boyhood Bohemians stepped up to challenge their dominance.
